UPMC Neurogastroenterology and Motility Center
The Neurogastroenterology
and Motility Center at UPMC is best known for its groundbreaking
work on constipation and abdominal pain.
The center focuses
on problems of intestinal function in both men and women, including:
-
irritable bowel syndrome
- chronic
abdominal pain (visceral hyperalgesia)
- swallowing
disorders (impaired or painful swallowing, noncardiac chest
pain, heartburn due to backflow of stomach contents, and other
complications such as chronic hoarseness or coughing)
- gastroparesis
(impaired emptying of the stomach)
- nausea and
vomiting
- dyspepsia
- pelvic floor
dysfunction
- fecal incontinence
- chronic
constipation
- diarrhea

Magee-Womens
Hospital of UPMC at 300 Halkett St. and the Digestive Disorders
Center, on the third floor of UPMC
Presbyterian, 200 Lothrop St. Both are located in the Oakland
section of Pittsburgh.
